Day 3.
.
.
.
.
This picture completely describes how I felt this morning.
This was the drive down to Salt Lake City to meet with the Microtia Specialist at Primary Children's Hospital.
.
.
Charlee's First Appt.
The unknowing is what killed us.
We can handle everything else.............At least we think we can!
.
.
.
..
.
.
Yesterday, we traveled down to Mikes.
Jax Jammin to some tunes!
He thinks he is a rockstar................I believe he is!  :)

.... Photobucket

We grabbed some quick dinner and went and saw " The Hobbit"
LOVE. THIS. SHOW!
It was long.......but oh so good!

They are  so dramatic!
Spy "da da"?....LOVED that Jax brought him!
Side note:
{da da has been with Jax everywhere and through everything since he was in the hospital one day old}

 Primary Children's waiting rooms ROCK!
They have everything...........even a "CRAFT" corner...
We didn't get to wait long enough to play.
.

Charlee would LOVE a kitchen one day.  :)

Meet Mr. Muntz.  :)
Oh I really liked him.
I think he kinda liked her!  :)
.
.
.
My heart relaxed when he walked in the room.
Cuz I liked him.
In my mind thinking........
this is the guy who will be working on Charlee.........and taking care of her!

.
.
He told us step by step by step........I feel I got every question answered.
.
.
Her MRI and hearing test will begin in the summer.
First surgery will be right before she starts Kindergarten.
So she will have more cartilage on her ribs!
.
.
Surgery 1.
Take Cartilage from her left side ribs.
Place them in ear form and plant them under the skin where her ear will be.
She will be in the hospital for 5 days with a suction tube to make sure the skin is air tight next to the cartilage.  This will create her skin for the whole ear.

Surgery 2.
Create an earlobe and minor details.

Surgery 3.
Detach and cut apart her ear to create a back of the ear away from the head.

Surgery 4.
Create an opening into the ear canal and fix minor details.
This will be the part where they will fix any INNER ear reconstruction if necessary.
This is BIG!
{will be determined when we have the MRI done}
.
.
.
.
Mike struggled at the appt.
How sweet it was to see this dad of Charlee's so tender towards her.
With tears streaming down his face he scooped up Charlee and held her hand and kissed her face.
It absolutely melted me.
.
.
Charlee is going to be teaching US I'm afraid, instead of the other way around!
.

When I say smile....she frowns.
What a nut!

.

Good day.
Good good day!

  1. What a sweet family you have! How scary to go through such a big thing with one of your babies, but you are certainly in the right place. Primary Children's is the best! And I hope you feel at peace now that you have a plan with sweet Charlee.

  2. Love it!!! I love the picture of Mike talking into Charlees ear in the waiting room....how he is grabbing her jacket lovingly. You can tell just in his body language how much he completely adores those two kidos! I love it! Love that brother of mine so dang much!! Charlee is a little trooper! What a brave little girl she is! Love those kids to death! Oh, and BTW....I just bought the same shirt for Libby yesterday! LOL Twinners! haha

  3. Love you guys!!!!! Always in life our children are sent here to teach us, or remind us of the important things in life because life on earth gets so cluttered with "things". What an amazing sweet little girl you have and I for one will be sad to see her little ear grow into a big ear! That was her special touch from heaven! Im sure she would much rather have a normal ear though ;) Ps we STILL need to get together!
